2016 Center of Excellence

The primary aim of our department is to provide best care and support to patients with rheumatic disease. It is our mission to provide excellent clinical care while seeking to better define the causes, stratification of patients, and best treatment approaches for rheumatic disease. To this end, we have to clarify the mechanisms for autoimmunity seen in rheumatic disease. We perform basic and clinical research to translate laboratory findings into novel therapeutic approach by combining genetics, transcriptome informatics and immunology. We think research of human immunology in collaboration with patients is the key to overcome rheumatic disease.

The Institute of Rheumatology and Immunology/ Clinical Immunology Center of Peking University People’s Hospital, is one of the largest rheumatology centers in China and is a key discipline in Clinical Immunology of the National Ministry of Education. In addition to providing a full range of consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services for outpatient and inpatient care, the center also focuses on investigating the mechanisms of rheumatic disorders and translational research.

As the leading clinical and academic center in South Korea, Division of Rheumatology at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) is committed to providing the best possible medical care to patients with various rheumatic diseases, outstanding education to medical students, residents, fellows and colleagues and a superb research environment to promote cutting-edge discovery with the ultimate goal to bring the state-of-art scientific knowledge from bench to bedside. The Division has a special interest to foster a highly competitive, goal-directed and synergistic research environment where the brightest minds in Korea are encouraged to conduct exceptional basic and translational and clinical researches that will help improve
the quality of life of patients with rheumatic diseases.

As one of the inaugural APLAR Centers of Excellence, the University of Hong Kong Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology strives to maintain our leading position as an academic centre for  rheumatic diseases through innovation in basic and translational research in systemic autoimmune disorders, and allergy and immunology. With the provision of comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes, the Division also endeavours to nurture competent and humane medical, nursing and allied health staff to care for persons with rheumatic and other related immune disorders. The ultimate aim is to improve the quality of life of these patients.

Good Practice: We adhere to evidence-based but fairly advanced clinical guidelines. Our efforts provide affordable care at reasonable costs to all rheumatology patients.Advanced Research: We earnestly promote the research from “basic” to “clinical trials”. Translational research is our main area of interest. We hope our research facilitate the progress in patient management.

Up to date Education: We are eager to be a nice friend to rheumatology colleagues and good teacher to trainee. We, ourselves hope to grow up by exchanging medical knowledge. We also believe we can go forward by providing a nice education to trainee.
